Population Served

  • Children & youth, aged 18 and under, who are at moderate to high risk for suicide
  • Must have a residential address in Surrey, White Rock or Langley

Services Provided

  • Suicide risk assessment
  • Crisis intervention
  • Short-term counselling
  • Therapists available for consultation and provide prevention workshops to community groups

How Service is Delivered

  • Services delivered at North Surrey office, client's school, or other community locations
  • Do not conduct home visits or run a waitlist

When to Contact

  • When patients are at a moderate to high risk for suicide

Referral Protocol

Anyone can refer including self-referrals.

If a professional (GP, school personnel, MCFD/CYMH, etc.) is involved, it is strongly preferred that the professional calls in the referral to provide the relevant information.

Suicide Prevention Workshops

For schools, community agencies and special interest groups, SPEAC is available for workshops. Participants learn how to identify warning signs of suicide and ways of providing support to those at risk.

Due to high demand for these workshops, please submit request early by calling (604) 584-5811 and asking for the SPEAC program.
